Dr. Åsa Arping

Biography

Åsa Arping is a Professor in Comparative Literature at the University of Gothenburg, where she has taught courses in comparative literature, teacher education, literature gender studies, and cultural studies. She has been actively involved in interdisciplinary courses and has supervised graduate students in literary criticism and theory. Between 2011 and 2016, she served as Associate Head of the Department of Literature, History of Ideas, and Religion. Her roles have included strategic educational planning and quality assurance in the department and representing faculty interests on the University Board. Arping has also participated in various editorial roles, including editor-in-chief at Kriterium and member of several editorial boards. Her research focuses on literature gender, class intersectionality, and literary criticism, with ongoing projects that explore the translation and reception of significant literary works.
