Dr. Åsa Norman

Biography

Åsa Norman is an Associate Professor at Uppsala University in the Department of Women's and Children's Health, focusing on global health and nutrition for children. With a PhD in Public Health Sciences from Karolinska Institutet, Åsa has specialized in preventing child ill-health and developing interventions targeted at vulnerable families. Her research spans various areas, including the effects of parenting interventions for children of incarcerated parents and the implementation of support programs to enhance children's health behaviors. She has led numerous projects, including cluster-randomized controlled trials assessing the impact of parenting interventions for promoting healthy behaviors and preventing obesity among children in disadvantaged situations. Her work involves both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with a keen interest in behavior change frameworks and intervention research methodologies. In addition to her teaching at Uppsala University, Åsa has held positions at Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University, and she actively contributes to the academic community through various research collaborations and grants.
