Asaf Gilboa completed his undergraduate studies at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, majoring in Psychology through the Amirim inter-disciplinary program. He received an M.A. degree in Clinical Neuropsychology from Hebrew University, where he studied neurocognitive effects of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology with a focus on Neuroscience from the University of Toronto, where he researched cognitive neuroscience and remote memory. Gilboa pursued postdoctoral studies at the Rotman Research Institute in Toronto, concentrating on the prefrontal contributions to memory monitoring and control. He has been a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at Haifa University in Israel, where he also served as co-director of the Clinical Neuropsychology program. Currently, he is a Senior Scientist at the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest and an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto, as well as an Affiliate Scientist at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. His lab researches neurological and neuropsychiatric aspects of memory disorders, focusing on conditions such as amnesia, dementia, and confabulation, utilizing methodologies like lesion analysis, fMRI, Skin conductance, ERP, and MEG to investigate the mechanisms underlying these disorders. Gilboa has co-authored 50 articles and book chapters, receiving several awards including the Dusty Ettie Miller Fellowship and the Outstanding Young Scholars award from Donald T. Stuss for Research Excellence.
