Biography

Asaf Orr is a Lecturer at UC Berkeley Law, with a strong focus on advancing the rights of LGBT individuals, particularly transgender and gender-expansive youth. He has over a decade of experience in the field and has served as the Senior Staff Attorney and Director of the Transgender Youth Project at the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR). During his tenure, he worked tirelessly to ensure the protection of transgender youth through litigation, public policy advocacy, and various legal matters such as school discrimination and child custody disputes. In February 2023, Asaf transitioned to the California Civil Rights Department to continue his mission of combating unlawful discrimination and hate violence in the state. He graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers School of Law in Newark in 2008 and gained experience by clerking for the Honorable Virginia Long in the New Jersey Supreme Court.
