Dr. Asger Sørensen

Biography

Asger Sørensen is an Associate Professor at the Danish School of Education, Aarhus University, Denmark. He holds a Master's degree (mag.art.) in Philosophy from the University of Copenhagen, received in 1992, and completed his Ph.D. in 1999. His research interests primarily focus on academic freedom, alienation, Critical Theory, Bildung, citizenship education, democracy, justice, and peace. Sørensen has shared his expertise as a lecturer at universities across five continents, including institutions in the U.K., Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, China, Mexico, and Uruguay. He actively participates in the academic community as vice president of the Danish corps university censors philosophy and has served as the spokesperson for the Nordic Summer University. As an editorial member of the Danish Yearbook Philosophy, he contributes his expertise to scholarly publications. In his teaching role in the MA Philosophy Education program, he is responsible for courses related to Modern Philosophy and lectures on themes such as academic freedom, education, alienation, critique of ideology, democracy, and peace. Sørensen's work reflects a commitment to understanding the philosophical underpinnings of education and the complexities of contemporary political and social issues.
