Biography

Professor Kaushal joined Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia in July 2016. Her research examines how law encounters diversity and difference across various legal settings, with a current focus on immigration law and adjacent fields. She continues to explore conceptions of community and belonging in relation to legal orders. Asha supervises graduate students on subjects related to her research and teaching interests. Before joining Allard School of Law, Asha held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, and worked in various legal capacities, including as a law clerk at the Court of Appeal for Ontario and as an aspiring civil litigator in Toronto, as well as an international investment lawyer. She is affiliated with the UBC Centre for Migration Studies and UBC Research Excellence Cluster.
