Dr. Asheley Skinner

Biography

Asheley Cockrell Skinner is a health services researcher whose work addresses a variety of population health issues, particularly focusing on implementation programs to improve health outcomes in vulnerable populations. She is a Professor in the Department of Population Health Sciences at Duke University, where she has established herself as a nationally recognized expert in childhood obesity. Her research employs a data-driven approach to understand pediatric obesity and enhance the implementation of evidence-based treatments. Additionally, her expertise extends to using implementation science frameworks to tackle issues related to opioid use disorders among affected populations. Beyond her research, she serves as the Director of Graduate Studies for Population Health Sciences, directing multiple training programs while actively mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, fellows, and junior faculty. Skinner earned her PhD in Health Policy Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007.
