Biography

Ashish Sharma is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He is an engineering hydrologist with a focus on hydrological uncertainty. His research is centered on the impact of climate change variability on hydrological practice, including applications related to remote sensing and the formulation of stochastic approaches. He develops hydrological models and addresses significant problems such as design flood estimation and water resources management. Ashish has served as the President of the International Commission on Hydrologic Sciences (IAHS) as well as the Commission on Statistical Hydrology (STAHY) since 2016. He has also contributed to the Australian Research Council's College of Experts on two occasions and oversaw the technical committee responsible for the development of the Australian Rainfall Runoff Design Flood Estimation guidelines (ARR2016).
