Biography

Ashley Chung-Fat-Yim joined the University of Manitoba as an Assistant Professor in January 2025. Prior to this, Ashley was a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Northwestern University. Her research program focuses on the cognitive consequences of learning, particularly the impact of bilingualism on executive function, language, emotion perception, and narrative transportation. Using a variety of research techniques including behavioral studies, EEG, and mouse tracking, she investigates how these elements interact. Ashley holds a PhD in Psychology from York University, where she also obtained her MA and BSc in the same field. Her academic and research interests lie in Bilingualism, Cognition, Emotion, and Creativity, and she is currently accepting graduate students at the master's and doctoral levels.
