Biography

Ashley Cohen is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern California, specializing in seventeenth and eighteenth-century England and the global empire. Her current research focuses on a book project titled 'Against Law: Antinomianism and the Intellectual History of London Hanged in the Age of the Bloody Code,' which aims to demonstrate how radical antinomian currents in the seventeenth century provided an intellectual basis for principled opposition to the Bloody Code, particularly advocating for the victims of the early eighteenth century. In addition to her research activities, she serves as an editor for the journal 'Eighteenth Century: Theory and Interpretation'.
