Biography

Ashley Trust, M.D., is an Assistant Professor at the Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin, where she focuses on health equity, mental health, and psychiatric care for homeless populations. She completed her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and a psychiatry residency at Dell Medical School. Prior to her current role, she worked with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, providing care to underserved populations in South Central LA. Dr. Trust currently serves as the lead psychiatrist for Integral Care's housing services for the homeless and primarily works with individuals experiencing homelessness at the integrated care clinic at Terrace Oak Springs, a permanent supportive housing complex in East Austin. Her practice emphasizes the treatment of severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and trauma, while recognizing and addressing the impact of social determinants of health. Additionally, she consults with the Travis County Medical Society on the health equity committee, co-chairs housing workgroups for the Austin State Hospital redesign project, and is involved with the committee for the mental health evaluation workgroup in the Travis County Forensic Mental Health Project.
