Biography

Ashok Swain is a Professor and Head of the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, Sweden. He holds the UNESCO Chair in International Water Cooperation and directs the Research School of International Water Cooperation. He has published extensively, including notable works such as ‘The Environmental Trap’ and ‘Managing Water Conflict: Asia, Africa Middle East’. His prolific writing includes nearly 150 journal articles and book chapters, and he contributes a weekly column to Gulf News. Swain's education includes a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
