Ashutosh Sutra Dhar obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Civil Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Western Ontario. He joined the Memorial University of Newfoundland as an Assistant Professor in 2014, became an Associate Professor in 2019, and was promoted to Professor in 2023. His current research focuses on structural strength assessment of municipal water mains and offshore/onshore energy pipelines, particularly in the context of soil-structure interaction. He teaches various courses including Geotechnical Engineering, Solid Mechanics, and Highway Engineering. Before joining Memorial University, he worked as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and held a faculty position at New Mexico State University in the United States. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario since 2002 and in Alberta since 2012, and currently holds this designation in Newfoundland and Labrador.
