Dr. Ashwin Pananjady

Biography

Ashwin Pananjady is an Assistant Professor at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was honored with the David J. Sakrison Memorial Prize for his dissertation research. His expertise includes high-dimensional statistics, statistical machine learning, mathematical programming, information theory, and reinforcement learning. Pananjady's research interests encompass statistics, optimization, signal processing, and their applications in data science and machine learning, with a particular focus on statistical computational problems that arise from the geometric structure of high-dimensional data. He has been recognized with various early career awards and honors, including the New Researcher Award from the Bernoulli Society and received industry accolades such as the Adobe Data Science Research Award and the Amazon Research Award. His teaching efforts have garnered recognition at both UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech.
