Biography

Ashwin Pananjady is an Assistant Professor at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech, where he holds the Gerald D. McInvale Early Career Professorship. He began his tenure at Georgia Tech in 2021 after serving as a research fellow at the Simons Institute. Pananjady's research focuses on the broad areas of mathematics and data science, specifically high-dimensional statistics, probability, optimization, information theory, signal processing, and reinforcement learning. He is particularly interested in statistical and computational problems that arise from geometric structures in high dimensions. Before joining Georgia Tech, he earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was advised by Martin Wainwright and Tom Courtade. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
