Dr. Asia Rashed is a clinical research fellow working in Pharmaceutical Science at King's College London, associated with the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She is interested in developing interventions to improve clinical practice and ensure the safety of medication use among children and young people. Dr. Rashed serves as an Honorary Clinical Research Pharmacist at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, collaborating with the pediatric pharmacy team. She graduated from University College London’s School of Pharmacy with a PhD in Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety in 2012. Following her graduation, she worked as a post-doctoral research associate as part of the Global Research in Paediatrics (GRiP) WP5 team. In February 2013, she joined the Medicines Use Research Group, having been awarded a research grant from the Health Foundation for a project focused on developing a safe management system for delivering nurse/patient-controlled analgesia for children. This project was conducted at Evelina London Children’s Hospital and was recognized nationally, receiving a Patient Safety Care Award in 2014 in the “Improving Safety Medicines Management” category. Dr. Rashed is involved in several research projects, including one funded by the Pharmacy Research UK Charity aimed at establishing a Children’s Pill School within NHS settings, providing an evidence base to change perceptions around prescribing solid dosage formulations for children instead of liquid medicines. She is also collaborating with a team from St George’s University, led by Professor Sharland, on a project funded by the World Health Organisation that reviews and updates the antibiotics dosing formulary for children's essential medicine list.
