Asif Ali Akhtar is a Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He earned his Ph.D. in Media, Culture, and Communications from New York University (NYU) in January 2023, where he focused on the impact of privatization and broadcast media regulations during the military regime of General Pervez Musharraf in Pakistan. His doctoral dissertation, titled "Television Siyasat: Genealogies Electronic Media Extralegal Politics Pakistan," received departmental distinction and was nominated for NYU’s Outstanding Dissertation Award.
