Biography

Asif Saud is a Marie Curie Fellow at Aalborg University, Denmark, where he specializes in advanced research on photothermal membrane crystallization as part of the European Union’s EXBRINER initiative. This project aims to recover lithium and magnesium from nanofiltration brine and involves collaboration among eight European universities and research centers, alongside four leading industrial companies across eight EU countries. Previously, he served as a Research Assistant at the UNESCO Chair at Qatar University, where he played a crucial role in high-impact research projects. His expertise includes the development of low-cost thin film nanocomposite membranes and their applications in forward osmosis, reverse osmosis, and pressure retarded osmosis. He has contributed significantly to the synthesis of nanomaterials for enhancing membrane performance and designing sophisticated water treatment systems. Notably, he has successfully secured funding for four major projects worth a total of 10 million USD, including prestigious grants like T2RG, QNRF, and UREP. His work aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals established in 2015.
