Biography

Asmahan AbuArish is an Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She holds a Ph.D. in Quantitative Molecular Biophysics from McMaster University and has a solid academic background with an M.Sc. in Material Sciences from the Weizmann Institute of Science and a B.Sc. in Honors Physics & Mathematics from Bethlehem University. Her research focuses on pulmonary inflammation, particularly in relation to hyperinflammatory pulmonary diseases and cystic fibrosis. Prof. AbuArish aims to advance the molecular understanding of disease development in Canada, and evaluate new therapies based on molecular standards of health and disease. She studies the molecular regulation of innate immune responses and inflammasome assembly in human airway epithelial cells. Her work uses advanced imaging techniques to explore the dynamics of protein interactions and cellular responses in inflammatory conditions, with the goal of identifying therapeutic targets to alleviate the burden of disease in affected individuals and the Canadian health care system.
