Biography

Asmus Skar Christiansen is an Associate Professor in Geotechnics and Geology at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He has a broad civil engineering background with a focus on pavement technology and structural-geotechnical engineering. He received his Master’s degree in 2009 and began working as a pavement engineer in the industry. He entered the Danish Industrial PhD programme in 2013 and became a Postdoc researcher at DTU in 2017. His main research activities involve the development of new testing, modeling, and analysis techniques for pavements and underground constructions, and he directs efforts towards the integration of modern sensing technologies in traditional civil engineering constructions. Additionally, Asmus serves as the head study and coordinator of the Nordic Master in Cold Climate Engineering programme and lectures undergraduate courses related to pavement engineering and road construction. He also supervises and co-supervises Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. thesis projects.
