Asolina Braun studied Biology and pursued a doctoral degree at Hannover Medical School in Germany, working under Reinhold Förster and Tim Worbs. She employed novel micro-surgical procedures and intralymphatic injections combined with multi-photon microscopy to study chemokine-driven migration of lymph-derived immune cells. Her fellowship with the German Research Foundation enabled her to undertake post-doctoral studies with Francis Carbone and Thomas Gebhardt, focusing on cytokines that enable the retention and differentiation of tissue-resident memory T cells (TRM) in extra-lymphoid tissues, particularly the skin. During her time, Asolina contributed to defining survival factors and differentiation signals for TRM and developed a strong interest in skin immunology. In 2018, she joined Tony Purcell at Monash University to study antigen presentation in psoriasis. Asolina continues to work on skin immune responses in the context of psoriasis as a Group Leader at Monash University, striving to develop novel therapeutic avenues for the induction of tolerance in autoinflammatory skin diseases.
