Biography

Aspasia Karalis obtained an A.B. magna cum laude in History of Science from Harvard University (1999-2003). She completed her medical studies (2003-2007) and her residency in Medical Genetics (2007-2012) at McGill University. She holds a Master’s degree in Health Law and Policy (LL.M.) from Sherbrooke University (2018) and completed a Microprogram in Health Sciences Pedagogy at the University of Montreal (2019). Dr. Karalis practices in clinical prenatal and pediatric genetics and is particularly interested in the ethical, legal, and social aspects of the practice. Her primary pedagogical and academic interest is teaching ethics and humanities in medicine, particularly in medical genetics. Since 2016, she has been the Director of the residency program in Medical Genetics and Genomics at the University of Montreal and is involved in teaching at all levels of medical training.
