Biography

Assad Oberai is a Professor in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California. Prior to joining USC, he was a faculty member at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he held multiple positions including Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies and Associate Director of the Scientific Computation Research Center. He completed his PhD at Stanford University in 1998 and has extensive research experience in computational engineering and physics-based modeling. He leads the Computation Data Driven Discovery (CD3) group, which focuses on applying advanced modeling techniques to solve complex engineering problems, particularly those related to healthcare and multi-physics systems. He has received numerous awards, including fellowships from the American Academy of Mechanics and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, reflecting his significant contributions to the field of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
