Biography

Assane Gueye joined Carnegie Mellon University Africa on August 1, 2020. Prior to CMU-Africa, he was a faculty member in the ICT Department at University Alioune Diop Bambey, Senegal, where he led the research group 'Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication pour le Développement' (TIC4Dev). Gueye held a guest researcher position at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA. He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley in March 2011, and received a Master's degree in Communication Systems Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland in 2004. His research focuses mainly on performance evaluation and security of large-scale communication systems, as well as information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D). Gueye is a Fellow of the Einstein Forum from the Class of 2016 and was nominated as a member of the inaugural Fellow Class of the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI) in 2019.
