Biography

Asuka Liying Qiao grew up in China and later immigrated to Canada, where she entered the healthcare field as a procurement specialist at IBM. After transitioning to nursing, she began her career at the Health Sciences Centre in orthopedic nursing. She has gained experience in multiple areas, including adult hemodialysis, pediatric ICU, and CancerCare Manitoba. In 2018, she began working as a clinical instructor at Red River College, teaching various clinical courses such as subacute medicine, palliative care, and community health. In 2020, she obtained her Master's degree in nursing with a thesis focused on the intention of using nursing homes among Chinese Canadian family caregivers. Asuka is passionate about patient care in settings that particularly address aging issues and the health of immigrants. She joined the teaching team at the University of Manitoba in 2021, where she primarily teaches older adult and subacute medicine courses.
