Biography

Asvini Subasinghe is a Research Fellow at the Eastern Health Clinical School at Monash University. She completed her PhD in Public Health in 2015, focusing on improving sexual reproductive health for priority populations. Throughout her career, she has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles concerning health outcomes for adolescents from socioeconomic disadvantaged backgrounds and survivors of sexual abuse. Subasinghe has been involved in managing various women's health programs at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, where she worked on the prevalence of reproductive health conditions among adolescent and young women. Her significant contributions led to her role as Chief Investigator on several projects, including the NHMRC CRE Sexual Reproductive Health Women Primary Care (SPHERE) initiative. Additionally, she has spearheaded collaborations for cervical cancer screening programs in South India and has been awarded numerous fellowships including the Endeavour Australia India Education Council Research Fellowship. In 2015, she co-founded Humanity Unearthed, a non-profit organization aimed at grassroots initiatives in the Asia Pacific. Subasinghe's research interests align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on healthcare inequities in primary health care.
