Dr. Athol Williams

Biography

Athol Williams is the Academic Director of the Oxford Advanced Management Leadership Programme (OAMLP) at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, where he ensures the academic rigor of the program and is actively involved in its design and delivery. He is also a Lecturer in Management and a Research Associate at Hertford College, Oxford. Athol joined the Saïd Business School in 2023, after a 15-year career in management consulting and corporate strategy in executive roles. Previously, he was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Town. He holds a DPhil and an MPhil from the University of Oxford, an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, an MSc in Finance from London Business School, an MPA from Harvard University, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand. His research focuses on reimagining capitalism in response to major global challenges, adopting a responsibility-based approach to leadership, and seeks to develop models of leadership that the world needs. His areas of expertise include organisational cognitive processes, strategy formulation, the interplay of strategy and ethics, corporate finance, risk management, and corporate social responsibility.
