Biography

Atieh Moridi joined the faculty of the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University in January 2019. He held a prior position as a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He earned his Ph.D. Cum Laude in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He also received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran. Dr. Moridi's research interests focus on advanced materials manufacturing, exploring intrinsic properties such as rapid solidification and melt pool dynamics, and the flexibility of additive manufacturing with a focus on local site-specific metallurgy and nanomaterials. He synthesizes novel high-performance materials and studies their processing, microstructure, and mechanical responses utilizing in-situ X-ray and electron microscopy techniques. Dr. Moridi's teaching interests include Additive Manufacturing, Introduction to Computer-Aided Manufacture, and Mechanical Properties Selection Engineering.
