Biography

Atila Novoselac is a professor and holder of the Josey Centennial Professorship in Energy Resources at the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Belgrade, obtained in 1994 and 2000, respectively, and received his Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 2004. His research focuses on improving buildings to enhance occupant health and overall energy performance. His work includes investigating transport phenomena within buildings that influence human exposure to airborne pollutants and pathogens, as well as developing methods to improve the thermal characteristics and energy performance of building systems. Novoselac has been part of a multidisciplinary team that collected data in the Amazon Basin to understand how human urbanization affects microbes in built environments and has hosted the HOMEChem event, the largest indoor air quality experiment, involving 60 researchers across 13 universities. He is a member of the Academy Fellows of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ) and is actively involved in the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). He has received recognition for his academic contributions, with Ph.D. students achieving prestigious positions in top programs related to building energy and environmental fields.
