Biography

Audrey Brumback is a board-certified physician-scientist specializing in child neurology. Her research focuses on developing novel brain therapies based on the modulation of neurophysiology, particularly in developmental neuropsychiatric disorders. She received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin and went on to earn her medical degree and doctorate from the University of Colorado, where she played a key role in establishing the scientific basis for new treatments for neonatal seizures. Brumback completed her pediatric neurology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, focusing on clinical assessment and management of autism spectrum disorders. Her postdoctoral research provided insight into mouse models of autism, revealing significant neurophysiological defects that affect social behavior. Her current work involves mapping subcortical circuits associated with autism to create therapies using brain stimulation. Since joining the faculty at Dell Medical School in 2017, she has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Philip R. Dodge Young Investigator Award from the Child Neurology Society and the K08 career development award from the NIH.
