Audrey Girouard is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean for Research in the Faculty of Engineering and Design at Carleton University. She leads the Creative Interactions Lab, a multidisciplinary research team that focuses on human-computer interaction. Her work explores how people use tangible devices and wearable technologies, and she is dedicated to understanding the applications of these technologies, especially in co-designing new input devices for people with disabilities. Girouard has been involved in the Research Education Design, Innovation (READi) training program. She received the CS-Can|Info-Can Outstanding Early-Career Computer Science Researcher Award and the Carleton Outstanding Faculty Graduate Mentor Award. Girouard completed her PhD in Computer Science at Tufts University in 2010 and achieved her post-doctoral fellowship at the Human Media Lab at Queen’s University. Her undergraduate degree is in Software Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal. Her research areas include Generation Interaction Techniques, Deformable User Interactions, Novel Technologies, Rehabilitation Research, Usability, User Experience, and Tangible User Interactions. Girouard’s expertise extends to game design, development, and interactions involving wearables.
