Austin Gaal is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry. He is a fellowship-trained oral and maxillofacial surgeon with a special emphasis on treating children and adults with cleft and craniofacial differences. Dr. Gaal completed his dental training at Columbia University in New York City and later pursued a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Washington. Since joining the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center in 2019, he has engaged in providing care as part of an ACPA accredited cleft team, participating in outreach trips globally for cleft surgical initiatives with well-respected organizations such as Free Smile and Healing Children Northeast. His clinical practice at Harborview Medical Center involves trauma, orthognathic, and cleft surgery. Dr. Gaal is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons, and he is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.
