Biography

Averill Curdy earned an M.F.A. from the University of Houston and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri. She is a professor in the Department of English at Northwestern University, where she teaches poetry and creative writing. Curdy has contributed to notable literary journals including Poetry, Paris Review, Partisan Review, Slate, Western Humanities Review, and Prairie Schooner. She is the co-editor of the Longman Anthology of Poetry, published in December 2005, and her work focuses on both poetry and poetics. Curdy is recognized for her contributions to literature, having received the Rona Jaffe Foundation fellowship for emerging women writers in 2005 and the Pushcart Prize in 2006. In 2007, she was awarded the Literature Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
