Biography

Aviane Auguste is an Assistant Professor at McGill University, specializing in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry Biology from Université des Antilles (Martinique) and has received training in Public Health Epidemiology from Bordeaux School of Public Health in France as well as the University of Burgundy in France. Auguste completed her Doctoral thesis at Université de Rennes in 2019, focused on the epidemiology of head and neck cancer risk factors in the French West Indies. Prior to her role at McGill, she worked as a post-doctoral scientist at the Guadeloupe Cancer Registry and Gustave Roussy Institute in Paris. Dr. Auguste is co-leader of the head and neck cancer working group at the African-Caribbean Cancer Consortium, which investigates cancer disparities among populations of African descent. Her research interests include community-based cancer prevention in low-income settings, the unique characteristics of small island health systems and their impact on cancer outcomes, and strengthening health research capacity in low- and middle-income countries. She focuses particularly on Global Health, Health Services, Health Policy, and Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology.
