Biography

Axel Christoph Gampp studied Art History, Philosophy, and Sociology in Basel and Zurich. He completed his dissertation on urban planning in the Roman countryside during the 17th and 18th centuries. In 2002, he obtained his habilitation with a focus on Italian art theory of the Early Modern period. His research interests encompass Early Modern Italy, art theory, Swiss art history, as well as issues related to mimicry and gesture in architecture.
