Biography

Axel Roesler is a Professor of Interaction Design and Chair of the Division of Design at the University of Washington. He joined the Division of Design in 2005 and has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Human Centered Design and Engineering, as well as an affiliate faculty member in Comparative History of Ideas. Roesler is a founding faculty member of the Interaction Design Program and has led the Master of Human-Computer Interaction and Design (MHCI+D) Program. His research focuses on interaction design in high-stakes work settings, including augmented and virtual reality systems. Roesler has collaborated with major industry partners such as Google, Microsoft, Boeing, and Intel on projects that explore new interaction models and cognitive support in various applications. He holds a PhD in Cognitive Systems Engineering and an MFA in Industrial Design, both from Ohio State University, along with a Diplom in Industrial Design from Burg Giebichenstein, Hochschule für Kunst und Design in Halle, Germany.
