Biography

Ayelet Haimson Lushkov specializes in Roman historiography and the narratives created by Roman historians about their past. She is the author of "Magistracy and Historiography in the Roman Republic: Politics and Prose" (Cambridge University Press, 2015) and "Win or Die: The Ancient World as a Game of Thrones" (Bloomsbury, 2017). She also co-edited "Reception: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Classical Tradition" (Cambridge University Press, 2012). Her research has resulted in numerous articles focusing on Livy, historiography, political theory, classical reception, and Latin literature. Additionally, her work has been published in prominent outlets such as The Guardian, The Independent, and BBC History Extra. Lushkov's current project is a monograph examining Livy's poetic citations and she is developing an interest in the working conditions for academics who are also mothers. She served as a public fellow at the Op-Ed Project in 2020-2021.
