Dr. Ayham Fattoum

Biography

Ayham Fattoum is a lecturer in management studies and operational disaster management at the Humanitarian Conflict Response Institute, University of Manchester. He holds a PhD in business management, specializing in operations management from Alliance Manchester Business School, and an MSc in management business excellence from the University of Warwick. His professional experience spans quality management, human resources, and change management across both the not-for-profit and commercial sectors. Ayham's research endeavors focus on enhancing resilience and agility within viable systems in emergency contexts, particularly in managing spontaneous volunteers during disasters. His interests include soft operations methodologies such as the Viable System Model and Soft Systems Methodology, complexity management, and systems thinking, along with operational disaster management. Ayham actively contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and is dedicated to pursuing academic excellence in his research and teachings.
