Biography

Aylon Cohen is a Departmental Lecturer in Feminist Political Theory at the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford. They have previously lectured at the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science at the Free University of Berlin. Aylon completed their PhD in Political Science at the University of Chicago and holds an MPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford as well as a BA from the University of British Columbia. Their research interests encompass Democratic Theory, Early Modern Political History, Nationalism Studies, Queer-Feminist Theory, Affect Studies, and Non-Human Political Theory. Currently, Aylon is writing a queer-feminist history of fraternity and sodomy as co-constitutive symbols of equality in Early Modern England and Britain. Their teaching includes an undergraduate series called 'Feminism and Philosophy' and a graduate seminar titled 'Feminism and the Future', addressing issues of contemporary relevance such as capitalism, identity, technology, and solidarity.
