Biography

Ayman El-Hag received his PhD degree from the University of Waterloo in 2003. Before this, he worked as a quality control testing engineer at Saudi Transformer Co. from 1993 to 1999, where he focused on implementing ISO 9001 provisions and testing distribution transformers according to IEC 60076 standards. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Teaching Stream at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, with research interests that include condition monitoring and diagnostics of electrical insulation. His work has earned funding from NSERC and the Qatar Foundation for research on inspections of outdoor ceramic insulators and the design of non-ceramic insulators, totaling over a million Canadian dollars. He has published numerous refereed journal and conference papers related to his research area. El-Hag is a registered engineer in Ontario, a senior member of IEEE, and has served as a guest editor for special issues and an associate editor for significant IEEE publications.
