Biography

Aytekin Oto, MD, MBA, is a Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Chicago, where he also serves as Chief Physician and Dean of Clinical Affairs. His clinical interests include MRI-guided focal laser ablation, prostate MRI, and MRI-guided biopsies, and he has extensive expertise in imaging diseases affecting the abdomen and pelvis. Dr. Oto's research focuses on the development and clinical application of novel MRI techniques to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. He has contributed to over 250 publications and has presented more than 150 scientific exhibits at national and international meetings. His overarching research goals are to achieve non-invasive and accurate diagnoses of aggressive prostate cancer using MRI and to improve the treatment of localized prostate cancer with minimal complications. Innovations from his work include new quantitative MRI acquisition techniques and the testing of MRI-guided therapy methods, such as laser and focused ultrasound ablation, through clinical and pre-clinical studies. He has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the field, including AIMBE fellowship and the RSNA Honored Educator Award.
