Biography

Aytekin Oto, MD MBA is a Professor of Radiology and Chief Physician & Dean of Clinical Affairs at the University of Chicago. His clinical interests include MRI-Guided Focal Laser Ablation, Prostate MRI, and MRI-guided biopsies. Dr. Oto has a vast experience in imaging diseases affecting the abdomen and pelvis, with a research focus on the development and clinical application of novel prostate MRI acquisition and interpretation techniques to improve the efficiency of prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. His work encompasses over 250 publications and 150 scientific exhibits presented at national and international meetings. The overarching aim of his research is the non-invasive and accurate diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer using MR imaging and the eradication of localized prostate cancer with minimal complications through minimally invasive treatment methods. He has developed new quantitative MR techniques and has tested MR-guided therapy methods in both clinical and pre-clinical studies. Dr. Oto has received numerous awards, including an AIMBE fellowship and the Distinguished Investigator Award from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
