AZA Allsop is an artist, neuroscientist, and psychiatrist whose research lies at the intersection of social cognition, music, mindfulness, and psychedelics. His clinical work is driven by a belief in developing decoding tools that can enhance our understanding of how social groups function, providing insights for treating mental suffering and advancing societal evolution. AZA studied Biology, Philosophy, and Jazz Studies at North Carolina Central University, later earning an MD from Harvard Medical School and a PhD in Neuroscience from MIT, where he also attended as an Emerson Scholar through Berklee College of Music. He completed his residency in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University, serving as co-chief resident in the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit, and obtained certification in psychedelic therapy research. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale and Director of the Center for Collective Healing at Howard University. In addition to his research, AZA teaches meditation, yoga, and music, and he co-founded companies that integrate arts and science with community building to drive social change.
