Biography

Azad Madni is a University Professor in Astronautics, Aerospace, and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California, holding the Northrop Grumman Fred O’Green Chair in Engineering. He serves as the Executive Director of USC's Systems Architecting Engineering Program and has a joint appointment at the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, with courtesy appointments in the Rossier School of Education and the Keck School of Medicine. He is the founding Director of the Distributed Autonomy Intelligent Systems Laboratory and a faculty affiliate at USC’s Ginsberg Institute for Biomedical Therapeutics. Madni is a Senior Fellow at the Loker Hydrocarbon Research Institute, founded by Nobel Laureate George Olah, and is a member of the London Digital Twin Research Centre. He has founded Intelligent Systems Technology, Inc., specializing in model-based approaches and has been a Chief Systems Engineering Advisor for the Aerospace Corporation, overseeing numerous significant R&D projects totaling over $100 million. His research focuses on Augmented Intelligence, Transdisciplinary Systems Engineering, and applications of Digital Twin Technology, among other areas.
