Biography

Azad Madni is a University Professor of Astronautics, Aerospace Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California and holds the Northrop Grumman Fred O’Green Chair in Engineering. He serves as the Executive Director of USC’s Systems Architecting Engineering Program and has a joint appointment at the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, along with courtesy appointments at the Rossier School of Education and the Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Madni is the founding director of the Distributed Autonomy Intelligent Systems Laboratory and a faculty affiliate at USC’s Ginsberg Institute for Biomedical Therapeutics. He established the Ph.D. program in Systems Engineering within the Astronautics Department and is a senior fellow at the Loker Hydrocarbon Research Institute. With extensive experience in leading over 97 R&D projects amounting to $100 million, his research interests span areas such as Augmented Intelligence, Digital Twin Technology, Model-Based Systems Engineering, Autonomous Systems, and Machine Learning. He is also noted for his contributions to Engineering Education and has earned numerous accolades for his work in these fields.
