Dr. Azadeh Emadi

Biography

Azadeh Emadi is a Senior Lecturer in Theatre, Film & Television Studies at the University of Glasgow. With a deep investment in interdisciplinary and intercultural approaches, she focuses on diverse cultural forms of knowledge within digital media and the arts. Her research aims to address socio-cultural issues related to media production, specifically examining how digital moving images construct meaning. Emadi integrates theoretical investigations of media production, including experimental video and video installations, to explore new ways of seeing through the application of historical Persian concepts in contemporary Western thought. Her current research foci include virtual reality, time, motion, perception, representation, and the latent potentialities of digital media in addressing real-world events. Emadi is also interested in developing innovative pedagogies that integrate cultural knowledge across academic, creative, and community engagement contexts. Her professional background includes past roles at the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand and a commitment to fostering research and creative practices among students.
