Azzurra Cox is a registered landscape architect and writer with an interest in how power landscapes shape and reflect collective narratives. With six years of practice at GGN, she has worked on urban-scale projects across the country, including the India Basin Shoreline Park Equitable Development Plan framework in San Francisco, the Hazelwood Green Plaza in Pittsburgh, and the Milwaukee Public Museum. Her work explores the relationship between process and product in landscape architecture, deepening connections between communities and places, amplifying existing powers, revealing layered histories, and encouraging grounded activism. Azzurra was named a National Olmsted Scholar by the Landscape Architecture Foundation in 2016 for her research on African-American burial grounds in St. Louis. She has contributed to the publication in Places Journal and currently serves as the Landscape Architecture Critic-in-Residence at CityLab. Azzurra has taught at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and has been involved with underrepresented communities through the Project Link program, which connects Boston-area high school students to a summer design course. Additionally, she served as a commissioner on Seattle's inaugural Central District Design Review Board.
