Biography

Bașak Sakçak is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences at Maastricht University. She received her PhD in Information Technology (Systems Control) from Politecnico di Milano. Prior to completing her PhD, she held positions as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Politecnico di Milano, a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oulu, and a Visiting Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research aims to understand the fundamental limits of sensing, filtering, and planning in robotics, with a focus on designing minimalist and effective methods for robot autonomy. Bașak was awarded the Academy Finland Postdoctoral Grant, which funds her independent research from September 2021 to September 2024.
