Dr. Baabak Ashuri

Biography

Professor Baabak Ashuri serves as the Executive Director of the Professional Master’s in Occupational Safety and Health (PMOSH) and holds professorships in Civil Environmental Engineering and Building Construction at Georgia Tech. His research focuses on advancing theoretical foundations and applications in data analytics and economic decision analysis within infrastructure systems and construction engineering management. His work allows for improvements in the performance of infrastructure operations, particularly in pre-construction decisions related to artificial intelligence design automation, alternative contracting methods, and infrastructure finance through public-private partnerships. Over his career, Dr. Ashuri has published extensively, with 242 publications including 86 refereed journal articles and 103 peer-reviewed conference papers. He has successfully secured approximately $17 million in funding from various prestigious institutions, enabling further advancements in his research fields. Dr. Ashuri has received several accolades including awards from the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. Furthermore, he has been active in leadership roles within key professional organizations, including chairing the ASCE Construction Research Council and serving as the Southern Region Director of the USDOT Build America Center.
