Biography

Babita Bhatt's research examines the role of social enterprises in place-based community organizing to address societal challenges. She is particularly interested in understanding how social change initiatives navigate power asymmetries and ethical complexities in resource-constrained, marginalized social contexts. Her work has been published in leading outlets such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies, and Organization Science. Babita serves as a co-guest editor for special issues related to polarization in the sharing economy and the base of the pyramid in the Information Systems Journal and is also an Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Perspectives. She is committed to student-centered learning and informs her teaching through her diverse experiences in Canada, Hong Kong, India, Spain, and Australia. Currently, she teaches courses related to Social Enterprise (MGMT2008) and Business Ethics (MGMT3016).
